B-Hive, Berkhamsted:
As part of a Neighbourhood Plan for Berkhamsted, Adrian Morrow Architects worked in collaboration with four other practices, Hugo Hardy Architects, Bob Thompson, David Kirkland and Studio Real, to develop ideas for an unusually shaped site accessible from Kings Road, Butts Meadow and the High Street in Berkhamsted. Following much public consultation during community workshops in late 2013, a mixed use development was proposed, comprising space for office, retail, leisure and residential use. Much care and consideration was taken to ensure that a scheme of the correct scale and grain was offered to integrate into the historic context. While limited vehicular access would be permitted for deliveries and emergency services, the external space proposed was intended primarily as pedestrian space to improve links for the community.
